If you were out driving near 7th and Illinois in Joplin, MO this weekend, you may have been one of over 1200 people who had to prove that they were not committing a crime.

Enforcing what the police refer to as a “DWI Checkpoint” officers were busy operating within the bounds of their interpretation of several constitutional rights; as they detained citizens going about their daily lives. Around 15 people were arrested, some actually for the very purpose intended by the roadblock.

As summer approaches, expect to be detained more often, as the department steps up their efforts to protect our rights.
